Electronic sensors are absolutely essential for creating new musical instruments. They connect the performer with the sound that is being created. High fidelity sensors are needed for creating new musical instruments.

In this project, Michael Blandino and Edgar Berdahl are investigating how to evaluate people’s ability to perform using sensors. We will report back when we have more info.

This image represents the fact that different parts of the body can operate sensors with varying degrees of accuracy. For example, performers can accurately transmit a lot of bits of information from the fingertips, but using the wrists to play music is not so easy!
